Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. Mary and Joseph were taveling to Bethlehem to register for census which was an evaluation of the population. They traveled for several days and got to Bethlehem. When they got there they went to a local inn but all the rooms were full. So they had to stay in a stable of a local farmer. In this stable, Jesus was born. Christmas is celebrating Jesus' birthday.
