Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. Mary and Joseph were taveling to Bethlehem to register for census which was an evaluation of the population. They traveled for several days and got to Bethlehem. When they got there they went to a local inn but all the rooms were full. So they had to stay in a stable of a local farmer. In this stable, Jesus was born. Christmas is celebrating Jesus' birthday.

I completely agree. It actually bugs me a lot. People spend way more time making their gift wish list than thinking about how they might help others in the spirit of the Christmas Season. Perhaps you could add a post with idea on how to change this. Use your blog as a way to make a difference. Also, check your spelling.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice i will try to add a little more information on them. But very good topic i like it. People should definetly be thinkin gabout this more than what they want from "santa".
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mr. Turton. I think that people spend too much time and money buying and thinking of what they want more than they do about what Christmas is REALLY about. Christmas is about being thankful for what you have and being with family, not what you get underneath the tree and in your stocking. There are some people who are so focused on Christmas presents and wrapping presents, they forget to stop and think about the true meaning and legacy of Christmas. The only real reason people give presents - besides the whole "because we care" act - is because of the three magi who traveled to Bethlehem for King Herod, king of Judea who was afraid of losing his power to a mere carpenter's son, proclaimed by prophets as the king of the Jews. Bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, the three magi, or the three wise men, gave gifts to Jesus Christ. King Harod had told the magi that when they had found the baby Jesus, that they were to return to him and tell him where to find the baby so that he, too, may go and worship the baby Jesus. I do not know if they ever returned to King Harod, for fear of what he would do to the heavenly son of God if he knew where to find Him.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing blog topic. It is both insightful and with the season, and will force both religious and non-religious people to think about what Christmas really means: The celebration of the first coming of Christ.
One thing that I get a little irritated about is when people get all this Christmas stuff up, when it's not even October. I understand there excited, but I mean, give a little respect toward other holidays.
ReplyDeleteAnd the only reason there excited about Christmas is because they get free stuff! I mean, I like the word 'FREE' as much as the next person, I won't lie, but not enough to just be rude.
You are SOOOO right! I think that when people seperate church and state, people are too busy anymore to remember about religion.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a blog most people would really think about so I think it's great you actually brought up a topic that people could debate and actually put their mind to. It's so true people forget the real meaning of Christmas because of getting so caught up in the gifts and decorations etc.
ReplyDeleteI like the blog, People need to spend more time on celebrating Jesus's birth and not on getting gifts.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is a magical time of year and with that we need to remember who started the magic. JESUS!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I never thought about how much time people spend think about the gifts and not the story of Jesus and his birth.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jenna P. But you did a great job on this blog! You made a lot of good points. and i agree with you. christmas shouldnt be all about gifts, It supposed to be about Jesus. Jeez people!
ReplyDeleteJenna S.
i like morgan`s comment and i totally agree with her.
ReplyDeletei think that chrismast should be more spiritual and less material.
anyway good blog.
I like your blog. I dislike Christmas only because many people only see it as a time year where if you buy a gift for someone that that is love, but love is exspresed through your heart, not the amount of money you spend on a person. Thats why i didnt tell anyone what i want of Christmas, because thats not love.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE JESUSSSS!!!!!
ReplyDeletethis is very interesting.. something that i didn't really know a lot about, good job.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mr. Turton. The reason we celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, not to give out gifts.
ReplyDeletewow i never knew that lol it is crazy that somthing you think is so goldy just happened like it would so normal
